Social Sharing Capabilities & Limitations
Social Sharing Capabilities & Limitations
Updated over a week ago

API limitations vary across the platforms we have integrated with Snapshot, so text and hashtags that populate the social shares will look different. You can find the capabilities and limitations along with examples of the visual differences below.

DISCLAIMER: The social platforms we have integrated are subject to change due to 3rd party updates that are out of our control. The below outlines the most up-to-date functionalities we are aware of and we will continue to update them if they change to allow for more or less capabilities.

  • Twitter

    • Supports pre-populated message and multiple hashtags; they’ll just be added after the image’s URL

  • LinkedIn

    • Does NOT support any pre-populated messaging or hashtags at all due to API limitations.

    • In the Closing Message on the submission page, clients can add a call-to-action to ask users to “add #(inserthashtaghere)” to help motivate users to add it in. But there is no way to guarantee they will. (example below)

  • Facebook

    • Does NOT support any pre-populated message or sharing with multiple hashtags

    • Only ONE hashtag will be included in the post

  • Instagram

    • Instagram’s platform does not allow for 3rd party direct sharing. Clicking this icon simply prompts the user to download their photo and upload it via the Instagram app.
